How long are classes?

At Elgin Community College (ECC), GED and HiSET preparation classes typically last 10 to 16 weeks, depending on the semester and start date.
Classes are offered three times a year—in fall, spring, and summer—and are available in English and Spanish. You can choose from morning, evening, or online options to fit your schedule.
Each class is designed to help you build the skills needed to pass the exams and prepare for college or career training. If you’re unsure where to begin, ECC staff can help you take a placement test and register for the right level of classes.
