How does AMOC work?

Almost graduated Alternative Methods of Credentialing AMOC high school

If you came close to graduating, you may qualify for the Alternative Method of Credentialing (AMOC) instead of completing the full GED or HiSET process.

You may qualify if you are 18½ or older (17 under certain circumstances), have completed at least 75% of your graduation credits (13 credits), and have a 9th-grade reading level or higher. Questions? Call 847-214-6948.

AMOC is offered with help from ECC. You will need to work with ECC to complete the process.

Your official high school transcript will be evaluated by the Regional Office of Education (ROE) in your county. The ROE will provide a report showing what you still need to complete.

ECC's Adult Basic Education Department can help you understand the report and complete your requirements. Depending on your transcript, you may need to complete online learning modules, some GED/HiSET exams, or a combination of both.

AMOC may be a faster option than completing the full GED or HiSET process.
